Close to 400 young men and women came out on a rainy night to support Friends of Israel Disabled Veterans and the heroic warriors wounded while protecting Israel during Operation Protective Edge last year. Sponsored and coordinated by the Young Leaders Committee, this event introduced FIDV and Beit Halochem to many of the guests for the first time. It was clear to all who came that the brave disabled veterans last year’s war in Gaza were very similar to themselves – young, intelligent, strong, and looking forward to happy and productive future.

“We want to thank everyone who came tonight,” noted Michael Leichtling, FIDV Chair. “Our Young Leaders are really helping spread the word about Beit Halochem and the rehabilitation services we provide at our Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa and Be’er Sheva centers in Israel. We are grateful for their leadership, which has greatly helped spread the word to new people.”

Michael Shmuely and Jacob Kent, the Chairs of the Young Leaders who made this event happen, expressed their satisfaction in this way: “We thought last night was awesome and we can’t thank you all enough for the ongoing efforts to make these events so successful. We’re still tallying up final numbers, but people have been very generous with their donations. Thank you to everyone who supported the Fall Kickoff!”
