Courage in Motion 2011
The "Courage in Motion 2011", bike ride was launched on Sunday October 30 and is an initiative of the Friends of Beit Halochem in Canada. 60 North American riders rode alongside 55 Zahal Disabled Veterans across the country strengthening the bond between the veterans and their North American friends.

10 US War Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan were guests of the ZDVO
On September 15 Beit Halochem Tel Aviv hosted a very special group of guests, 10 US War Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. They were the inaugural team visiting Israel as part of a project initiated by "Heroes to Heroes" a non-profit US Association whose aim is to provide a solid peer support system for American service-disabled veterans.

For the First Time Ever: Israeli Wheelchair Dancer Appears in Local German Musical Production
Israel wheelchair dancer Nahum (Humi) Prital and his standing dance partner Gal Cucuy have recently returned from a performance tour in Germany where they took part in a local musical production. The story behind the scenes is fascinating and typical of modern day communication where thanks to the internet and the social networks the world has indeed become a global village.

Sailing Towards London
Hagar Zehavi and Shimon Ben Yaacov were injured during their military service. Both are trying to achieve their dream to win an Olympic Medal in Sailing at the forthcoming 2012 London Games.

Raising Funds for Beit Halochem while Climbing the Everest
Yuval Shalson, a young British Woman has decided to turn her forthcoming climb to the Everest Base Camp (April 2012) into a fundraiser for British Friends of Beit Halochem UK. The Zahal Disabled Veterans Organization salutes her on this very special gesture!

Wheelchair Dancers Gal Cucuy and Nahum (Humi) Prital win Barcelona Dance Competition
Gal and Humi, members of the "Magical Wheels" Dance Troupe of the Zahal Disabled Veterans Organization returned last week from Spain where they took part in the 2011 International Dance Sport Open Wheelchair Latin Competition in Sant Cugat, near Barcelona.

When Broza and Layani Moved the Crowd to Tears
Over 600 friends of the Zahal Disabled Veterans in Geneva attended the annual event that took place on March 28th.The wonderful concert given by David Broza was preceded by a moving speech of Dani Layani, a blind veteran benefitting from sport activities sponsored by Geneva.

'Man in Motion' Visited TA Beit Halochem
Rick Hansen, better known as Canada's Man In Motion, recently visited Israel as part of his Middle Eastern Tour intended to create greater awareness for accessibility as well as to further research on Spinal Cord Injuries.
