Kinneret Bosani
"I am a survivor of terror … NOT a victim.
My motto is to live and to live at any cost."
Kinneret Bossani, born in 1978, enlisted in the army after graduating from high school. She served two years in Army Headquarters offices in Tel Aviv.
On March 30, 2002, Kinneret stood in as a bar waitress for a friend who had to report for Army duty. It was just an ordinary day at "My Coffee Shop" on Allenby Street in Tel-Aviv, until a suicide bomber walked in and exploded his belt standing right next to her. Kinneret was torched and thrown to the ground by the huge explosion.
Kinneret endured severe injuries to her head, the loss of one lung, and damage to her right eye. Hospitalized for five months in Tel Hashomer's Burn Unit, Kinneret suffered third-degree burns to over 70% of her body. Clinging to life by a thread, she was unconscious for two weeks and kept in a drug-induced coma for five months to help cope with the pain.
Today, Kinneret continues to undergo numerous surgeries in Israel and abroad and is a current member of "Beit Halochem Tel-Aviv. As a part of the healing process, Kinneret participates in specialized art, computer and cultural programs.
Supported and motivated by her family and friends from Beit Halochem, Kinneret has realized that she is determined, "… to live and to live at any cost". She is now studying filmmaking and plans to produce a documentary about her hopes for peace in Israel.
