On September 30, 2009 a festive Gala was held in Paris as a benefit and fundraising event for the Zahal Disabled Veterans Organization. Under the auspices of Mr. Daniel Shek, Israel's Ambassador to France and Col. Ilan Atias, Israel's Defence and Military Attache in France, the dinner was attended by over 350 prominent members of the Jewish Community in Paris, supporters and donors.A ZDVO delegation flew to the event from Israel. It consisted of two disabled veterans, Dr. Aharon Danziger and Amit Barel, accompanied by a representative of the Zahal Disabled Veterans Fund, Ruthy Benitah. Attending the Gala was also Mme. Shosh Eleini, President of "Amis des Invalides de Tzahal Bet Halohem à Genève" and Mme. Andrée Weill, President of "Association des Invalides du Beit Halohem Côte D'Azur".
The event was an initiative of Dr. Richard Sion, President of "Friends of IDF Wounded in France". Mr. Hubert Habib, a member of the Board of Directors of "Association des Amis de Beit Halochem en France" was instrumental in assisting him in the production and successful organization of the evening. Mr. Albert Benabou, Representative in France of the Israel Ministry of Tourism contributed greatly to the success of the evening.
